Exams were over and it’s finally the school holidays!
Since the term 4 graduation held in Evolve Mall last November, you would think taking a break was the natural option. But that’s not the end of 2018, as in the month of December, Johan Speaking Academy had more to offer and was running a series of daily workshops. There were tons of programs to be chosen from.
Besides playing games, watching movies or hanging out with friends and families, it is also a great time for children to do meaningful and productive activities.
In this write-up, we will be featuring Kids Youtubing 1-Day Workshop!
Initially, there were only 2 days offered for this program which were on 4 December and 14 December respectively. Due to popular demand, another class was opened on 13 December as well! The 1-Day Kids Youtubing workshop began at 9.30am and ended at 4.30pm. In the workshop, kids learned about teamwork, speaking confidently in front of camera and even video editing!

As kids gathered at 9.30am, they will first get to know each other by learning their names and shaking hands. Encouraging them to have eye contact and speak politely to the other will help construct their social skills. This, in a way, also boosted a child’s confidence as they learned how to make new friends and develop friendships.
Once the ice breaking session ended, the class began with a simple insight about the Youtube world. Joyful faces can be seen as they were shown with a few sample videos. Caught up in the moment, the kids were getting more and more excited as they looked forward to filming themselves.
Before proceeding to filming, kids were distributed into groups for discussion. This time, everyone turned serious as they communicated with one and another on the following such as group introduction and role delegation, etc.
Soon after, the camera started rolling. Some were quick to prompt in speaking swiftly in front of camera whilst some did struggle for a bit as they froze in tracks. Nonetheless, this was a learning process where they were able to self-reflect their personal strengths and how to improvise their weaknesses.
Parents were slowly coming in as they were to be present for the parenting session at 3.30pm. Besides showcasing their achievement of the day, the kids also presented live in front of the crowd. Proud faces can be seen on parents as they took out their mobile phones to capture the moment. Finally the day ended with a certification ceremony.
Thou only for a day, Kids Youtubing 1-Day Workshop is certainly an intensive program as the kids will get to experience physical, cognitive, social, and emotional benefits all at once. The most rewarding part is certainly when a child gets to generate new and valuable content by himself/herself.
