Are these some of the lines you tell yourself or your colleagues when you are call upon to speak on stage ?

At some point of our lives, we will have to present to a group of people. It might be in school, it might be presenting a final year project in college, it might be presenting your monthly work to your bosses in meeting and many more scenarios.

How do you wish you have "some" public speaking skills with you ?

Why is public speaking important ?

It is a skill which you have to use one day.

As a student : You have to present your project ( primary / secondary / tertiary ) one day. While the project might be a group project, you rather be the one to take the lead and present. You can escape once if you skip this, but some how or rather, you will have to face it alone one day.

Into the workforce : You have to go through an interview. If you are going through a corporate company, the third interview might put you into a spot to present to 3 - 5 top managers.

Being a Leader

A good leader is a good communicator. As we climb the corporate ladder or running an enterprise, we have to communicate our message across.

Being able to articulate your message, you may impact and inspire people.

Building Your Confidence

People say public speaking is one of the most feared thing to do. How true ? Just ask yourself. Different people have different anxiety level when they are called upon to step up to speak.

If you do it more, and keep doing, somehow, your confidence level will increase. And having confidence in life will ultimately help you along your life's journey.

Sometimes a parents asked, "When do we need to start public speaking ?"
The earlier we start them, the better. While we do not need to rush this and give pressure, if we could expose a child to speak on stage earlier, it will be better.

Teaching kids public speaking

I hoped this post has given you some insights on why is public speaking important. While they are many other reasons, this are the top reasons from my point of view especially when i teach kids in public speaking.
