Johan Speaking Academy X Channel W Capital News: Media Interview @ 17 July 2018

Located at a quieter part nearby the city centre, Channel W is a Malaysian television channel broadcasting news, business matters, entertainment, and interviews.

The call time for the interview was set at 3.30pm on a weekday.

Upon arrival, Johan and Cherry were in jovial mood and all suited up, clearly looking forward to the interview.
The waiting hall of Channel W was cozy and decorated in stunning red across the room, denoting the color of the brand. While waiting to be next in line for the interview; Johan went for a quick touch up as Cherry had a small talk with the producer.

At 4.00pm sharp, Johan and Cherry were ushered into the studio. The studio also had a similar furnishing as the exterior hall, revolving around the color red. As Johan were seated on the couch, his pose quickly settled into seriousness whilst microphones were fixed on him. On the other hand, Cherry was very supportive as she was continuously capturing pictures and videos of the moment.
Whilst the cameramen and crews were setting up, both the host and Johan had a quick chat before the start of the interview.

Counting down in 3, 2, 1……

The show started!

One of the questions asked by the host was how Johan Speaking Academy would plan to improve and grow within the education sector. Johan articulately shared his input that they will continuously be innovative and creative in developing the different skill sets needed in communication and speaking. Since the establishment of Johan Speaking Academy in 2014, various programs had been introduced namely Kids Public Speaking (available in Chinese language too), Kiddos Public Speaking, Kids Emcee, Kids Tour Guide and Kids Youtubing. Each program were carefully crafted and infused with useful techniques to be taught to the students.

Consistently raising the bar and pushing past own limits were the values and fundamentals behind the success of Johan Speaking Academy.

As Johan also shared, one of the biggest challenges faced in the business, was educating the market. Even after 4 years of venture, both Johan and Cherry had never stopped to cultivate and instill the importance of speaking confidently and fluently whether in public places or in front of a camera. As the saying goes, “Communication – the human connection – is the key to personal and career success.”

Towards the end of interview, Johan also shared the company’s long term goal in expanding the business beyond Malaysia particularly South East Asia regions, as to encourage and inculcate Asian children to build self-confidence in speaking.
